One of our most favorite things to do at the shoppe is create modern, customized, gorgeous stationary wardrobes for couples to celebrate the most exciting day of their lives: their wedding. First things are always first when it comes to this – getting to know the couple, deciding what elements are important to them to convey in their style, and then creating an idea that truly embodies their unique originality.

Emily was recently asked to be featured in Southern Bride for her wedding work, and she couldn’t have been more obliged.

Call me Ginger Spice… but I’m really into girl power. I’m thrilled to share with you a brand new book release (which oozes girl power) by fellow entrepreneur Julianne Taylor, Creative Director + Founder of Taylor Burke Home. { Publisher: Fashion + Décor Publishing }”Who is this for?” you might ask. As noted by Traditional Home’s own Tori Mellott, its “For every woman who’s ever entertained the thought of starting her own business in the field of design… Not just another pretty coffee table book, Julianne Taylor’s colorful and helpful compendium of insight for making it in the design world will always be on the top of your pile as you’ll be referencing it over and over again!”

What’s even more fun is that I was chosen to be a part of this book. To be able to share my experience, my vision, and speak on my passions is one of my greatest joys in life. Thank you so much, Julianne for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful, forward thinking creation.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to organizations that support rising entrepreneurs.

This inspiring book features 35 female entrepreneurs in the home décor industry. All of the women featured are product developers and/or significant influencers in the industry. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at insightful tips and tricks to pushing past the start-up phase into a viable long-term business. DesignHER is a collection of 33 real and sometimes humorous short stories that explain the pitfalls and mistakes these female entrepreneurs made in breaking into the home décor industry. It’s definitely the ideal book for those interested in starting their own business, learning about the home décor industry, and/or looking for inspirational success stories.

“I am thrilled to present you the stories of some truly inspiring women shaping today’s home decor industry. By celebrating the success of each individual in DesignHER, we set the stage for continued support, collaboration and connection that has the power to elevate us all.”

Emily McCarthy has a very clear path to her heart. It involves prosecco, great friends, and elegant dinner parties. (No doubt, you share the same tastes.) Allow us to set the scene for you: the stars of the show were Lance Jackson and David Ecton, the venue was a prime location in downtown Atlanta – The Capital City Club. The cast? Designers and partners who work closely with Parker Kennedy Living, the brain child of Lance and David. (Surely you’ve already read all about them during our Signature Style Series!)

Parker Kennedy is notorious for mixing vintage and modern adding notes of Chinoiserie. This table was so true to their signature style, and curated down to the finest detail.

The smell that wafted through the room was none other than our own prosecco candle. Can you imagine a better sensory experience? @shopinstantgratification created custom napkin rings with the one and only PKL pagoda, @changnatalie also showed off the pagoda on custom place cards. @paigeminear added the cherry to the sundae by making the red monogram atop the napkin rings.

A creation this epic could only have come from such a strong meeting of the minds, Emily was beyond thrilled to be included in this upper echelon of style.

What’s more exciting, and worth the celebration, is that Parker Kennedy is nominated as part of a talent hunt for Traditional Home! We know who has our vote, and they can have yours, too. Click the photo or click here to go directly to the page and spread the love to Parker Kennedy!

We’re already saving dates in our calendar for the next dinner party.

A fabulous fete is incomplete without a guest of honor, and a guest of honor was present indeed! Mary McDonald, award winning Los Angeles based interior designer, was in town for a book signing at Georgia Furniture and Interiors and celebrating a fabulous collaboration with Chaddock furniture. Her designs were divine, and it’s impossible not to find at least 5 pieces that you must have in your home. You may recognize Mary from her part in Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Decorators” or “Property Envy.”

Meeting Mary was such an exciting event, she’s vibrant and energetic – just like her designs. The backdrop of Georgia Furniture and Interiors was buzzing over the new addition of Chaddock Home furniture to their repertoire of high end brands. With the partnership so fresh of Mary McDonald creating exclusive looks for Chaddock Home, a book signing was the cherry on top of the sundae. Mary is such a wealth of talent, it was certainly a treat.

Emily was able to sit down with Mary and have a one-on-one. The two of them found it easy to talk at a peer to peer level sharing personal goals, aspirations, and understanding one another’s passion for branding a home and letting personal style shine in all aspects of life.

We can’t wait until Mary makes a trip back to Savannah, and we’re even more excited to see what she comes up with next. Stay tuned on the blog as we hope to feature her soon on our own Signature Style Series.
