Ahhh, the at-home bar. So often under-rated, we need to talk about it! We always try and help you think about special touches around your home and how they can honestly bring your entertaining and aesthetic to a new level. How about the at-home bar accessories? So easy to inject into any current set up, and packing a big punch of impact with guests.

Our new shapes and sizes of decanters are our newest obsession. Take your custom monogram or choose from a style we can make for you, and create your emblem. We also heard a rumor that Father’s Day is coming up soon and that this could be EXACTLY the gift that Dad needs, and Mom approves of. (Call us selfish, but it’s never a bad idea to give a gift that goes with the rest of the home decor!) Dad will feel even more official pouring up his favorite spirits with something uniquely him.

Aside from Dad, you know we’ve got options at our Gift Bar that will be great gifts for others… or, for yourself! (We believe in self-gifting here, in case you needed an excuse!)

Finally, come one come all for our slate coasters! These are another specialty that has “DAD” written all over it. Masculine, but perfect to blend in with any feminine flares you may already have around the home.

Keep an eye out for the fabulous gold accessories to be featured later this week!

Want to make an order for Father’s Day? Hurry up! We’ll make sure it gets to Dad in time.

This week, we had the joy of getting to know more about Kimberly Whitman for our readers. She’s been a household name around the studio ever since we were able to lend our monograms to her new book, Monograms for the Home. Another name we can call her is “friend”. We’re positive you will be able to tell from this short interview what a truly warm, inviting, and happy presence she has.

EMc: How do you carry your signature style into all aspects of your life be it home decor, entertaining, or fashion?

KW: I just choose what I like when I’m faced with a choice! I figure that if it resonates with me, tells a story, or makes me smile, it suits my style!

KSW Dinner Party August 19 2015-181
EMc: What is your personal definition of “signature style”?

KW:When I think of some of my most stylish friends, I must say that they are hard to box in. In other words, they are always evolving and open to new things and new looks. I like that! To have signature style, you have to have curiosity about life and design and be driven to discover what you like.

EMc: Give us three words to describe you. Why did you choose these three words?

KW: Classic, Joyous, Colorful? I don’t know! That is so tough. What three words would you use for me? I’m so curious, after sharing these photos, etc, what you would say!

EMc: You know, Kimberly, after reveling in all the gorgeous photos you sent to us and reading your answers… we would absolutely use the words vanguard, whimsical, and joyous.

EMc: What are three of your most prized pieces that you think fully represent your signature style? This could be a piece of furniture, jewelry, art, etc.

KW: Oh gosh – that is so hard! I love “stuff” and cherish the memories that come along with so many of my belongings. One of them is certainly my engagement ring. It was my husband’s great grandmothers ring. All of the ladies in his life wore it and that means so much to me. It is a sapphire (colorful and blue!), an heirloom, and a very classic and lady like style. I adore it and I think it completely suits me even though it wasn’t made for me! I also love the bracelet that features the dates my children were born and my monogram by Hannah Fergeson. I wore it in my author photo for my new book, Monograms for the Home. I also cherish my son’s portrait by Stella Ehrich. She is so talented and did such a beautiful job capturing who he is. She spent time with us and got to know him before she started painting him and the final painting is just magical because he really shines through! The best part, besides our new friendship with Stella, is that she even painted his toes that cross over – just like my father’s toes do!

EMc: What is your best tip to encourage others to find and develop their own signature style?

KW: Explore and try new things! Mix and match things that resonate with you. Edit like crazy and you will probably find that the things that stay around you all have a common thread.

Pssst, things are feeling rather celebratory around here! (You know how much we just adore a good party.) The talented Kimberly Whitman has published an ode to the monogram showing their ever present status in the modern home. Monograms are the new language of chic, and they offer countless ways to brand your life. We were thrilled that we got to lend our own style to the pages.

Celebrating the grand entrance of monograms into today’s requirements for a curated domain, Monograms for the Home dusts off the idea of the family insignia being a relic and shows it shining bright as a reclaimed staple. Purchase a copy for your own monogrammed home by clicking here.

I’ve had this gem in the works since last November and I’m thrilled to finally launch the results and trust me – there is more to come! For now, I’ve picked the best of the best to launch online and if you’re available to stop by the Shoppe at Cohen’s Retreat in Savannah, you might find a few more goodies. It was my goal with this collection to offer my exclusive monogram designs embroidered on linens – cocktail and dinner napkins, guest towels, pillows, blankets, etc. I found some great sources for everything and hand-picked the colors available to fit the brand and customer base. After drawing my monograms and using them on paper and gift products up to this point, I had everything digitized to be able to offer embroidered items. I’m so excited to have this launched so that you can all enjoy these for summer entertaining!

Here’s a highlight – but be sure to visit the online Shoppe to design your own! Click here.

Emily McCarthy for PSA Essentials

I’ve been busting at the seams to announce something I’ve been cooking up for the past couple of months! Throughout my years in gift retail, I have become a big fan of PSA Essentials and their infamous self-inking return address stamps. PSA approached me about launching a designer collection available to all 1200+ of their retailers. I jumped at the opportunity to offer my original monogram designs to so many people nationwide. The popular signature monograms, new bamboo and greek monograms, along with a handful of additional designs are offered to the preppy and coastal-loving shopper. All of the designs also compliment all of the products available in the Shoppe so you can mix and match the perfect combination. If you are a retailer and would like to offer this to your customers, please contact inquiries@psaessentials.com. Also, if you’re attending the upcoming National Stationery Show, I will be in the PSA booth for a Meet and Greet Tuesday, May 20th at 10am. Hope to see you in the big city!

At EMMA J DESIGN, we have been busy bees gearing up for Wedding Season! We just LOVE how Jessica and Jack’s custom wedding paper turned out for their October nuptials.

Bride Jessica is known for her fashion sense and true Southern traditions. We envisioned Garden and Gun meets New York Fashion Week. Jessica and Jack’s wedding was anything but standard and included details such as their Couture Monogram embroidered on linens, gold foil coasters and napkins. For the invitation wardrobe, we pressed their Couture Monogram into a luxurious double weight Crane paper and letterpressed hand lettered calligraphy by Bride Whelan in a taupe ink. The edges were gilded with gold foil and were divine!

    Hi Emma!

The lavender wedding programs are absolutely beautiful. What a great idea to include lavender on the program itself. xx
